Motorcycle storage/security

We were approached by a new start-up enterprise that was developing and selling motorcycle secure storage facilities for residential use. It had recently received the required funding and wanted to start its marketing campaign in earnest. They needed a full set of 3D product visualisations that described the various selling points of the product which would include product renderings of the storage facilities installed and various explanatory and technical illustrations of the features of the products.

What we did:

To satisfy the brief we had to model in full detail every aspect of the storage shed and all of its interior components. The images that were required would display all of the fixing and construction aspects of the shed so every detail had to be included, this included the interior and exterior sides as well as the detail of the roof construction.

The shelving supports, door locks and shelf mechanisms for all the attached interior products had to be modelled so close-up cameo images could be created to illustrate the unique selling points.

We also had to design and develop a unique residential setting that would appeal to the target audience to show a fully installed facility and this would be displayed with a motorbike and rider in-situ. There were also additional settings that allowed us to show the tamper-proof lock mechanisms on garage door installations.

We were supplied with 2D CAD files of all of the products which allowed us to create the 3D models required and we were given paint samples to accurately recreate the external finish.

Issues we overcame:

Creating the 3D models was an arduous task as there were many small pieces and difficult-to-understand fixing processes that we had to illustrate effectively. Some of the models required detail down to the last nut and bolt so this took some time.

The installation images within the garden setting was tricky to get right. The motorbike was a 3D model that was purchased from an online library but the rider was taken from a stock photograph. The lighting on the human figure was important to match the 3D render so he didn’t look out of place but also the scale and position of him had to create the illusion he was part of the image and not a “stuck-on” addition.

The end result:

The batch of images we created for this company was a triumph and the client was delighted with the result. The images were to be used in all of their future marketing exploits including pride of place on their website.
