Home Furnishings Product CGI

As a business looking for long term partnerships with well-established companies that would potentially use CGI regularly we highlighted Next Home as a target a year or two ago. We started a campaign of calling, emailing and generally making a nuisance of ourselves until we managed to start a conversation with the procurement department. Many conversations followed where discussions took place about how our CGI service could fit into their work/low and eventually some upcoming projects were agreed that would be a good fit with the testing of this idea.

What We Did

MARKETING CGI IMAGERY

The largest of these was an ongoing project with wardrobes. It was agreed that it would be a good fit for both parties as the wardrobe manufacturer was known to us, and we already had a working relationship with so details were fixed, and we were commissioned to produce the sales images for a couple of ranges of wardrobes

The project would entail some lifestyle images of the wardrobe products within lifestyle bedroom sets, some close-up detail cameos highlighting the product features and then dozens of e-commerce images of the different wardrobe configurations so purchasers on the Next Home website could visually appreciate the product no matter which configuration had been chosen.

ISSUES WE OVERCAME

As work started on designing the room sets, we held discussions with the wardrobe manufacturer to give them instruction on what information we required from them in order to carry out the work. In the end, we were given 3D files for some of the ranges but two were still in production and had no digital information available. As time was tight the decision was made that we would visit Next Home and photograph and measure the two ranges from the prototype they had in their storage department. This would naturally increase the production time slightly as we would have to model the wardrobes using the information we gathered but it would still be quicker than waiting for the manufacturers 3D files

Once the files were ready we created photorealistic textures from the material samples provided by Next. Accuracy is always increased for textures if our team are given actual samples to work from and can analyse the material in detail. Each separate wardrobe configuration was made from the base models we created or were given, and they were ready to be rendered or placed into the room sets.

While this has been taking place, another part of the creative team has been working with design personnel at Next in developing the rooms for each wardrobe range. Various sketches, concepts and moods had been discussed and we created the initial drafts of the rooms using the approved designs for approval. As the wardrobe models had not been finished we used placer objects so momentum on all parts of the project was not slowed due to hold ups in other areas

Once the wardrobe models were ready we produced final drafts of each room set with the finished products in place after refining and improving the atmosphere and lighting to ensure the best result for each wardrobe range. While these were being approved we explored angles for the cameo shots trying to create visual interest and depth for each one and submitted these for approval

As work began on the e-commerce images for each wardrobe range, we took the final raw renders of each room into post production where each one was treated to our photo realistic processing to achieve the final realistic result. The end result was a set of 3D renders that sit perfectly well next to other photography

The e-commerce images and all of the lifestyle images we produced for these wardrobes were very well received and we are proud lo be associated with this well known brand and see our hard work and effort displayed on the Next Home website and in their directory

This was the first time we had used a company like Red and Gray, but were guided through every step of the way.
We had a lot of choices in what to have in our images, but Red and Gray were happy to offer creative advice as well as to what would work.
We were very happy with the end results and feel this has lifted our work beyond what photography on it’s own could have done.
We are looking forward to working with Red and Gray again in the future.

Anthony Neale – Advision

The staff are absolutely brilliant at Red and Gray, all work has been delivered on time and above the expected standards. Attention to detail is incredible and I recommend their services to anyone looking for a quality agency to fulfil various scopes of projects. I have no hesitation in using Red and Gray for all our upcoming projects.

sam Edwards – the foam company

Working with Red and Gray has been an absolutely fabulous experience. I felt nervous at first because it’s our first foray into CGI, but with Maz, Kerry and the team holding my hand throughout, the whole process was simple. CGI has unleashed my inner creativity, to create without boundaries or restrictions.
The team followed my briefs to a T, in fact the surpassed my expectations. Would you be believe, I had tears in my eyes when I saw the images.

sophia charalambous – bathroom origins

We had some nice feedback from one of our customers on the Designer Series cut-outs you prepared for us – “Cut out images are great. I cannot remember the last time we got such good hi-res images from Lecico.”
So thank you for the great work!

THE END RESULT

Once the files were ready we created photorealistic textures from the material samples provided by Next. Accuracy is always increased for textures if our team are given actual samples to work from and can analyse the material in detail. Each separate wardrobe configuration was made from the base models we created or were given, and they were ready to be rendered or placed into the room sets.
